After Napoli came through with a game tying hit in the bottom of the 9th, Marisnick came off the bench to drive in Gose with the winning run in Pittsburgh’s 3-2 win. Eovaldi gave up just 3 hits with 11 Ks in 8 innings but the bullpen couldn’t hold his lead.

Rodriguez and Andriese combined on a 3 hit shutout in the Lumber Company’s 4-0 win. Owings had 3 hits and Kipnis drove in 2 runs to lead the offense.

Rivera had a walk off double scoring Napoli in the bottom of the 13th as Long Beach won 3-2. The game featured a lot of strikeouts as the teams combined for 31.

Game #4: |
Fiers threw a 2 hit shutout with 10 Ks as Long Beach won 2-0. The runs came on back to back HRs by Martinez and Ruggiano in the 4th. Those were the Dirt Bags only hits of the game. Moustakas wore the golden sombrero for Pittsburgh.

A really good back and forth game that was tied in the bottom of the 8th when Ruggiano hit his second HR of the game to give Long Beach a 4-3 win. Melancon got Pittsburgh 1-2-3 in the 9th for his 19th save.

Pittsburgh pounded Haren and the Long Beach bullpen in the 9-4 win. They got HRs from Kipnis, Moustakis, Kemp & Smoak. Kemp & Moustakis had 3 RBI each.

The Outlaws are playing about the same as they finished last year, the Explorers are playing the dream!

Outlaws score 1 in the 1st but then fall behind 7-1 keyed by a 4 run 4th for the Explorers. Desmond gets 2 hits and 3 rbis to pace the offense. Parra gets 2 hits including a 2 run HR (7). Choo hits #12 for Columbus.
NYO 4-7-3 LP Hamels (4-8) gives up 6 runs, but only 3 are earned. COL 7-8-3 WP Santana (4-3)6 total errors in the game resulting in 4 unearned runs! |
Game #3: | See-saw affair that sees Columbus plate 3 in the 1st including Carpenter 3 run HR (22). Peavy homers (1) in the 3rd to help a comeback attempt. But by the end of 6 it’s 5-1 Columbus. Dickey leaves after 7 clinging to a 5-4 lead as Beltran clobbers a 3 run HR in the 7th. O’Day comes in in the 8th and gives up a double to PH Vogt. Robinson in to PR and he steals 3rd. Shuck gets a PH squeeze rbi to tie the game. But in the bottom of the 9th, Carpenter greets reliever Cedeno with a 2 run walk-off HR (23) to win it for Columbus. Carpenter ended the game with 6 rbis! New York takes command in this one with 2 runs in the 2nd and 3rd. But that was the end of their scoring – Herrera gets 3 hits, run, rbi. Anderson goes 7.1 innings giving up 3 hits, 3 runs (2 unearned!). Explorers get 2 in the 7th to cut it to 4-3 and then tie

Chris Rusin gets the start for Columbus – last week he got 2 starts and 2 wins, but the magic runs out – boy does it run out. He goes 4.1 giving up 2 walks and 8 hits and 8 runs!. Outlaws score 3 in the 1st and 3rd, 7 in the 6th and somehow don’t score anything in the 2nd and 9th as they cake walk to a 19-6 win. McCann gets 4 hits, 5 rbis (all singles), Beltran 3 hits, 4 runs, 4 rbis, HR (7). Vogt HR

Light scoring game, Columbus gets single runs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd – New York gets one in the 4th – Vogt HR (9), and that was all the scoring. Explorer bullpen goes 2 scoreless innings to back another great outing from J.A. Happ.
