Valdosta (37-41) meets up with Triple Creek (24-54) for a 6-game set. Both teams can only be spoilers this year.

Lewis vs. Gonzalez

Gonzalez show great command in CG 1 walk 7 K performance to collect his 1st win of the season. Lewis takes his 8th loss in a short outing.

Phil Hughes scatters 11 hits over 7.2 and collects his 5th W. Snapper pen is a little shaky allowing 1 run over the last 1.2 but Vizcaino bumps his save total to 8.

Tehran vs. De La Rosa

Tehran entered the game sporting a sub 2.00 ERA and collects his 10th win with a pedestrian performance (by his standards). Snapper bullpen was rock solid.

Both starters exist the game after allowing 5 runs each. The bullpen
battle was one by Valdosta and Vizcaino now has double digit saves
on the year.

Montas gets a spot start and whiffs 9 over 5 innings. The Patriot pen locked down the last 4 innings allowing just 1 hit.

Lewis vs. Gonzalez

After a rare CG victory in game 1, Patriot manager watched Gonzalez closely for sings of fatigue but there were none. The Triple Creek starter scatters just 6 hits over 8 frames allowing no runs. Reed picks up his 7th save and the Patriots even out the series.

Triple Creek scores 25 runs to Valdosta’s 24 runs and the series is split 3-3.

Sacramento wins the series 4-2. The Nor’easters did get satisfaction by roughing up Mr. Grade 22 Zack Grienke for one of their 2 wins.

After Napoli came through with a game tying hit in the bottom of the 9th, Marisnick came off the bench to drive in Gose with the winning run in Pittsburgh’s 3-2 win. Eovaldi gave up just 3 hits with 11 Ks in 8 innings but the bullpen couldn’t hold his lead.

Rodriguez and Andriese combined on a 3 hit shutout in the Lumber Company’s 4-0 win. Owings had 3 hits and Kipnis drove in 2 runs to lead the offense.

Rivera had a walk off double scoring Napoli in the bottom of the 13th as Long Beach won 3-2. The game featured a lot of strikeouts as the teams combined for 31.

Fiers threw a 2 hit shutout with 10 Ks as Long Beach won 2-0. The runs came on back to back HRs by Martinez and Ruggiano in the 4th. Those were the Dirt Bags only hits of the game. Moustakas wore the golden sombrero for Pittsburgh.

A really good back and forth game that was tied in the bottom of the 8th when Ruggiano hit his second HR of the game to give Long Beach a 4-3 win.  Melancon got Pittsburgh 1-2-3 in the 9th for his 19th save.

Pittsburgh pounded Haren and the Long Beach bullpen in the 9-4 win. They got HRs from Kipnis, Moustakis, Kemp & Smoak. Kemp & Moustakis had 3 RBI each.

Pittsburgh and Long Beach split the 6 game series.

Adam Warren throws 14.1 IP allowing 5 hits, 0 earned runs, and struck out 13 in his two starts against Chicago, but the Mobsters go 3-1 in the other 4 games, including two extra inning victories as the two teams split the 6 game series.

The New York Outlaws (36-41) travel to Columbus to play the Explorers (59-18) for a 13 game series sandwiched around the All-Star Break. The first seven  games are in Columbus, then it’s on to New York for the final six. The teams should be real familiar with each other by then. The Outlaws are playing about  the same as they finished last year, the Explorers are playing the dream!

Explorers tee off early and often getting 4 in the 1st and up 8-0 after 4. Holt 4 hits, 3 runs, Enrique Hernandez 3 hits, 3 rbis, Zimmerman 3 run HR (4) lead the offense. Severino goes 5 innings for win. Pagan, Beltran and Uribe get 2 hits each for New York and Papi hits #17.

Outlaws score 1 in the 1st but then fall behind 7-1 keyed by a 4 run 4th for the Explorers. Desmond gets 2 hits and 3 rbis to pace the offense. Parra gets 2 hits including a 2 run HR (7). Choo hits #12 for Columbus.
NYO 4-7-3 LP Hamels (4-8) gives up 6 runs, but only 3 are earned.
COL 7-8-3 WP Santana (4-3)6 total errors in the game resulting in 4 unearned runs!

New York takes command in this one with 2 runs in the 2nd and 3rd. But that was the end of their scoring – Herrera gets 3 hits, run, rbi. Anderson goes 7.1 innings giving up 3 hits, 3 runs (2 unearned!). Explorers get 2 in the 7th to cut it to 4-3 and then tie
it in the 9th. Games ends in the 11th with another Carpenter walk-off HR (24) – off Cedeno AGAIN!

COL 5- 5-0 WP O’Day (4-0). Benefiting from errors and 4 walks.

Chris Rusin gets the start for Columbus – last week he got 2 starts and 2 wins, but the magic runs out – boy does it run out. He goes 4.1 giving up 2 walks and 8 hits and 8 runs!. Outlaws score 3 in the 1st and 3rd, 7 in the 6th and somehow don’t score anything in the 2nd and 9th as they cake walk to a 19-6 win. McCann gets 4 hits, 5 rbis (all singles), Beltran 3 hits, 4 runs, 4 rbis, HR (7). Vogt HR
(8) and Petit a run triple.

Light scoring game, Columbus gets single runs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd – New York gets one in the 4th – Vogt HR (9), and that was all the scoring. Explorer bullpen goes 2 scoreless innings to back another great outing from J.A. Happ.

McGann hits an rbi ground out in the 1st scoring Pagan. Hamels adds a single in the 2nd and that was all the hitting from New York. Choo hits a 2 run HR (13) in a 3 run 2nd. Santana drives in 1 in the 6th and Columbus takes the finale 4-1.

Choo injured, but it’s only for 3 days (good thing he probably won’t
be on the All-Star team – but he will be ready after the break).

Columbus takes the series 6 games to 1 heading to the break. Outlaws have a few days to regroup for the rematch in New York.

Detroit takes a very close series 4-2 over Southwest Detroit; 3 games decided by 1 run.

Cannons and Solar Sox have starting pitching issues. We’ll see if they crop up in the series.

Fremont’s Hector Olivera cracks a three run homer to give them a 4-3 lead and, in extra innings, wins it with a two run double. The Cannons win despite committing 4 errors.

FIVE. Count ’em. Five Cannon homers (Correa, McCann, Buxton, and two from Khris Davis) and an easy 8-5 win.

The Solar Sox set a couple of franchise records (ok. It’s only game 81 in their history but, whatever) in a 13-4 win. They crack 19 hits and Steven Pierce drives in 5. Ian Kennedy wins his 7th.

Trevor Bauer goes the distance, giving up only 3 hits and striking out 8 to win his 8th game for Mesa. Yan Gomes hits a three run homer and Danny Santana drives in 5.

Jordan Lyles pitches the game of his life (and likely his career) with a 2 hit complete game shutout! He strikes out 10 and walks no one.

Ricky Nolasco hurls the Solar Sox third straight complete game win, giving up 6 hits and 1 run. Mesa wins 5-1.

Very surprising results as the Cannons clobbered the Sox for the 1st two games but then their bats so silent and the Sox take the last 4.

The teams split the series.

Once again, HRs win for MCM. Hahn went all the way in the loss. CCC scored their runs on a sacrifice fly and an E6.

Another tough-luck loss for a CCC starter. Aybar’s two-run single in the 2nd inning answered Giavotella’s RBI single in the first, and that was it as the pitchers took over from there.

Two solo HRs by Betts were not enough for CCC, as a back and forth
battle was finally settled by a three-run 6th inning for MCM, with
the deciding two runs scoring on an E6.

HR: CCC–Giavotella, Grichek; MCM–Castellanos

CCC jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on 1st inning HRs by Goavotella and Grichuk, but could not hold on as MCM answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. MCM took control with a three-run HR by Castellanos in the 3rd. Verlander shut CCC down after the opening inning.

CCC lost another lead, but Grichuk’s second HR in two games gave CCC the lead back for good.

MCM tales the series 5 games to 1

CCC scored first in every game.

Grichuk, Betts and Trout all had 2 HRs in the series.

A couple bottom feeders of the National League faced off for a series of 6.

The Steelers got 5 off the Cycle pen.

Selkirk 6-2

Once again the Steelers tagged Corktown’s pen late for 3 and the victory.

Henderson Alvarez goes 8, giving up just a solo home run to Paulo Orlando.

Corktown gets 7 out of rookie Adam Morgan and they get their 1st win of the series.

Corktown 4-3

This time it was Tom Koehler going the distance giving up only 1 hit in a shutout victory for the Cycle.

Corktown 6-0

Selkirk chased Corktown’s starter Alex Colome early with a couple homers from Souza dna Sanchez, and that would be enough to take the final game of the series.

Hollywood visits Southbend

Not much to say Hollywood puts it on Southbend taking the series 6-1. It would figure the only game that Southbend wins is against Kershaw, who we put up 6 runs against in 6 innings.
