Two expansion teams of a few years back meet up in Bethesda to knock heads for seven games.
Game #1: It’s all Frankie Liriano and Wheat Kings as Nolan Arenado and Nelson Cruz wallop two-run shots in the 1st and last innings in a 4-1 win by the visitors. Liriano fanned 13 and gave up just four hits in 7-2/3 innings outduelling Jake Arrieta who game up two runs off three hits in 8 innings. Cruz and Arenado supplied all of the offense each accounting for a pair of hits which was the sum total of the hitting for Clovis. Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Colabello each had two hits for Bethesda which also only managed four hits in the contest.

Jake Odorizzi was solid for the second straight outing, allowing just one run on four hits in seven innings with no walks while striking out six. Clovis lefty starter Gio Gonzalez was lukewarm at best as he gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits in 6-2/3 innings. In the DET 8th Harper drew a walk and Machado crushed a 2-run HR for the winning hit.
DET 9, SBL 7

DET Kazmir is solid through 6 giving up only 2 runs. The DET offense continues to pummel the SBL pitching as the put 7 runs on the board. DET scored 6 runs in the first 3 innings and coasted the rest of the way. DET doesn’t hit any HRs this game but does add 4 doubles along with 5 1bs all bunched together in the early innings for their runs. SBL bullpen is respectable this game but it was way too late.
DET 7, SBL 2
Game #6:
DET comes down to earth offensively this game, but their pitching rises to the occasion. Nola goes 5.2 scoreless innings and the bullpen does the rest as Villanueva, Benoit, and Britton keep the SBL hitters in check. DET runs come off a Zobrist rbi-2b in the 3rd (Fielder scores of all people) and a Jones sac fly in the 8th.
