Triple Creek  Patriots @ Columbus  Explorers
Series Preview
Triple Creek Patriots visit Columbus in what should be an exciting series between two teams with pitching deficits.
Game #1:
Triple Creek outhits Explorers 13-9 but drop the game 8-6 (5 run 9th made it look close). Carpenter (10), Avila (8) COL homers. Reyes and Aoki 3 hits each.TCP 6-13-2 LP Frias (1-2)COL 8-9-1 WP Axelrod (1-3), S Varvaro (18)
Game #2:
Patriots again outhit Explorers, 15-8 and THIS time they outscore them 10-3. Reyes (8) and Headley (12) go over the wall. Headley and Brantley get 3 hits each. Freidrich goes 7 inning, 7 hits, 3 runs for the win.TCP 10-14-0 WP Friedrich (3-2)COL 3-8-0 LP Greene (4-8)
Game #3:
3 for 3 – the Patriots outhit the Explorers again – 13 to 7 this time. BUT a 9th inning passed ball by Susac (who is on a tear) allowed the winning run to score. Dunn (who is reportedly speaking pretty decent Japanese) hit two dingers (17, 18).TCP 3-13-0 LP Russell (3-3)COL 4-7-1 WP Hardy (2-3) BS 4
Game #4:
4th game in a row the Patriots outhit Columbus – 18-6 and this time they score more runs – WAY MORE RUNS. Brantley (21) and Chisenhall (2; 8, 9) homer. Chisenhall gets 6 rbis – 1 of the homers was grand slam. Pence gets 4 hits, Headley and Chisenhall get 3 each. Vargas goes 6, 4 hits, 2 run, 0 earned, and 8 ks.TCP 15-18-1 WP Vargas (11-7)COL 2-6-0 LP Tepesch (7-11) took one big time for the team.
Game #5:
Columbus gets more hits in this game and stages 2 comebacks to win. Down 6-0 after 2 1/2 they plate 5 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th. Down 7-6 in the 8th, they score 1 (Gordon HR (3) and then get a 2 run walk-off HR (19) from Dunn in the 9th. Nava (3) and Susac (4) homer for Patriots. Susac goes 3 for 4 with 4 rbis (and keeps tearing up the Columbus staff).TCP 6-11-0 LP Janssen (0-3) BS (2)COL 9-13-0 WP Dunn (5-2)
Game #6: Well the teams were having so much fun that they ran this game into 13 innings (hoping they could play another week maybe). PH homer in the 13th wins it. But first the see-saw. Patriots up 2 after 2, down 3-2 after 5. Back up 4-3 after 6 and 6-3 after 8 1/2. But Avila opens the bottom of the 9th with a homer  (9). 2 outs Carpenter singles. Blackmon up and he lifts one to right that just clears the fence (16) to tie it up.OK – back to the 13th, top half, 2 down Hembree looking good and Andrew Brown steps to the plate to PH for Matusz and pulls one hard to LF that is deep enough and just stays fair for the game winning HR (2). Leone closes the bottom half (with 2 walks to make it exiting for those who stayed til the end.TCP 7-11-1 WP Matusz (5-7) S Leone (21)COL 6-13-0 LP Hembree (1-1)Did I mention, Columbus had the most hits in this one! (But when you add the walks and HBP, Patriots had a 19-16 advantage.
Series Summary
Series splits 3-3 but was a very offensive affair. Seems like much of Triple Creeks offensive guys are in the running for player of the week this go around.

Selkirk  Steelers @ Long Beach  Dirt Bags
Series Summary
Selkirk and Long Beach split the 6 game seies

Tempe  Tempers @ Bethesda  Bandicoots
Series Preview
Two first place teams – one legitimate and the other clinging to life meet in a six-game set.
Game #1: The game left us asking ourselves how is frigging Wei-Yahoo Chen 19-2 with a sub 2.00 ERA? One of a number of Tempe hurlers exceeding statistical probability, but as expected it led to a 4-1 Tempe win in the opener. Adrian Beltre (19) and Ryan Braun (11) homered off Sonny Gray (13-6) as they hit the Athletics’ ace hard and early. The opener also saw the beginning of the “glory and gore” in this series with the glory going to Tempe and the gore to Bethesda as Travis Snider (7 days) and Erasmo Ramirez (6 days) went down to injury. Thanks Tyler Clippard … you need to screw those f-ugly aviator goggles on a little tighter.
Game #2: Tempe was able to get to Bethesda starter Alex Cobb early with two runs in the opening frame, but then the door slammed shut and Bethesda scored four unanswered runs to even the series 4-2. Tyler (In Yer Freakin’ Face) Clippard got tagged with the loss for giving up a run in 1/3 of an inning with Cobb improving to 8-10 and Jonathan Broxton notching save number 25. That must be a Bandicoot record as I don’t think we’ve won 25 games in any season. Michael Cuddyer had a single and double, scored and drove in a run for Tempe. Mid-season acquisition Seth Smith paced the Bethesda offense with his 16th homer – a two run shot in the 6th off Clippard. Jimmy Rollins drove in the other two runs for Bethesda. The gore swung Tempe’s way with Ryan Braun going down to a 7-day injury.
Game #3: The beast was angry. Very, very angry. Marco Estrada left the game for Bethesda with a 3-2 lead heading into the 6th and Joba Chamberlain left with his head in a shopping bag after getting hammered by Tempe hitters for four runs in one inning as the Tempers bitch-slapped their way to a 9-4 drubbing of the Bandicoots. Chamberlain gave up two walks and three hits in that single virtuoso inning with Yoenis Cespedes and Curtis Granderson each driving in a  pair of runs. The Bethesdea bullpen meltdown allowed Mr. Perfection (Dan Otero) to improve to 16-0 for Tempe … more wins than any Bethesda starter. Cespedes (13) homered for Tempe.
Game #4:
Not much to tell about this one save that Adrian Gonzalez hit his 34th homer as Bethesda blanked Tempe 2-0. Oh yeah … Tyson Ross tossed a NO-HITTER!!!   Ross’s moved his record 7-7 and Odrisamer Despaigne fell to 8-5. Gore to Tempe once again with Chris Davis going down for five days.
Game #5: A late-inning flurry by Bethesda was not enough to tame the Tempe tempest as the Tempers hung on to win 8-6. Tempe jumped all over Bethesda starter Jake Arrieta (10-5) for six runs on eight hits in just five innings while Tsuyoshi Wada (8-2) pitched just well enough to win for Tempe allowing three runs on five hits in five innings. Robinson Cano (16) and Yoenis Cespedes (14) homered for Tempe with Cespedes driving in three runs. Melky Cabrera had three hits  and scored three times for Tempe. Lorenzo Cain (4), Seth Smith (17) and Adrian Gonzalez 2 (36) homered for Bethesda. On a positive note, with the  three RBIs in the game Gonzalez became the first Bandicoot to reach the 100-RBI plateau. Yay.
Game #6:
In a cramfest to get in his innings, Marco Estrada was started on short rest and he pitched as well as could have been hoped for tossing five shutout innings and keeping Bethesda in it long enough for Carlos Ruiz to play hero and tally the only run of the game with a homer off Weird-Al Chen. The loss dropped Chen to a lowly 19-3 record. Fernando Salas (6-4) got the win with an inning of scoreless relief and Jonathan Broxton picked up his 26th save. For Ruiz, it was his 4th homer of the season. Tempe thoroughly outplayed Bethesda in the same, but stranded 10 men on base through the contest.
Series Summary
A very very hard-earned split for Bethesda and Tempe with injuries scattered about on both sides.
