Gregory is clapping his hands … he’s one happy ballplayer.” The Cougars would go up 6-0  after another run in the 4th and would coast from there. Dallas starter, Williams would go 7 plus strong innings and although the Cougars would give up some runs late they hold on for their first home win of 2015.FINAL SCORE: Dallas 6, Fremont 4
Game #2: Jeremy Guthrie R (DAL) – 1-2 4.60 15IP – Samuel Deduno R (FRE) – 0-1 3.86 14IPAfter the first three Dallas hitters reach base in the bottom of the 1st on a single, infield single, and walk rookie Jose Abreu stepped to the plate, “Infield deep … the runners take their lead … DEDUNO deals … it’s a shot down the line to right … into the corner … one in … two in … three in ABREU’s digging for third … SCHOOP’s relay … the ump signals … out by inches! So three runs score on ABREU’s double … and the COUGARS go ahead by three runs 3-0 here in the 1st … that gives ABREU 14 RBI on the season.” Dallas would go up 4-0 on a home run by LF Solarte in the third, but would see their lead cut in half in the top of the 4th when Alcides Escobar came to the plate, “GUTHRIE comes to him … oh, my, my! … that one’s deep to left center MAXWELL and SOLARTE both going back … later! … ESCOBAR really hammered that one … a home run. So ESCOBAR has his 3rd homer of the season … the CANNONS have their first two runs and now trail by two 4-2. COUGARS 7,  CANNONS 4. So they collect two on SOLARTE’s homer … his 2nd home run of the game … and SOLARTE now has 10 runs batted in on the season and that’s the 4th homer for the COUGARS in this game” However Lackey leaves the game in the top of the 5th with an injury and the Dallas relievers couldn’t protect the lead. Fremont would score the winning run with two outs in the 9th against Dallas closer, Hawkins, “ESCOBAR stretching his lead from 2nd… he wheels and deals … whacked to center field … base hit BLANCO’s racing over … still running … he fields it … ESCOBAR’s well around third they’re waving ESCOBAR in here comes the throw home here’s the play at the plate … and he’s … safe easily … DAVIS holds at first with a single. “FINAL SCORE: Fremont 8, Dallas 7

That was one of the few bad pitches for Dallas starter, Williams as he goes the distance.FINAL SCORE: Dallas 5, Fremont 3
Game #7: Jeremy Guthrie R (DAL) – 2-2 3.80 23IP – Juan Nicasio R (FRE) – 0-3 8.22 23IPRasmus delivers a two out RBI single in the first for the Cougars, but that would be all the scoring for Dallas. Meanwhile Guthrie was pitching very strong for the Cougars, but he hung one in the 7th to pinch hitter Kennys Vargas. “Here’s Kennys VARGAS coming to the  plate … he’s been waiting for the hits to start dropping in so far hitting at .241. Lifted high to right … RASMUS is chasing back … he waits on it … but it’s over his head good-bye … a three-run dinger for VARGAS … VARGAS will touch them all and he’s sure taking his time … he’s greeted at home plate … congratulations all around CANNONS 3, COUGARS 2.” The Cannons would get an insurance run in the 9th as they took the rubber game of the series.FINAL SCORE: Fremont 4, Dallas 2

The home team managed just one win in an ugly series. The highlight/lowlight was Jacob Turner taking one (several?) for the team in a game 4 blowout.

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Iron City  Yinzers
Series Preview
Bethesda travels to Iron City for an early NL East matchup.
Game #1:
Bethesda 4, Iron City 1
Alex Cobb controlled the game the entire way, with a complete-game four-hitter, allowing just a solo homer to Eric Hosmer. Anthony Rendon had three hits and David Peralta homered and drove in a pair for the Bandicoots.
WP: Alex Cobb, 1-0
LP: Alex Colome, 0-2
Game #2:
Iron City 2, Bethesda 1, 12 inn.
Both Bethesda’s Alex Wood and Iron City’s Jeremy Hellickson allowed just one run over eight innings, but Alberto Callaspo’s pinch-hit heroics in the 12th won it for the Yinzers. Lance Lynn won his fifth game, pitching in relief for the second time (I have to change some settings!)
WP: Lance Lynn, 5-0
Game #3:
Iron City 6, Bethesda 5, 11 inn
Another extra-inning nail-biter. Iron City scored once in the seventh and again in the eighth to tie the game, then won it in the bottom of the 11th against Fernando Salas.
Game #4:
Bethesda 5, Iron City 4, 12 inn
Yep, that’s right, more free baseball, but this time the Bandicoots came out on top. The Yinzers scored twice in the bottom of the ninth
to send it to extra frames, but Bethesda scratched out a win in the 12th without the use of a hit.
LP: Alex Colome, 0-3
Game #5:
Bethesda 8, Iron City 2
No extra frames needed. Grady Sizemore had four hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs. Adrian Gonzalez and Conor Gillasapie also homered to back up Jake Arrieta. Previously unbeaten Lance Lynn didn’t make it out of the first.
WP: Jake Arrieta, 1-1
LP: Lance Lynn, 5-1
Game #6:
Iron City 8, Bethesda 5
The Yinzers used a six-run eighth inning to earn a split in the series.
WP: Jason Frasor, 1-0
SV: Josh Edgin, 1
Series Summary
The Yinzers continue to be scrappy, earning a split and happily staying somewhat mediocre.
