Triple Creek  Patriots @ Bethesda  Bandicoots
Series Preview
Both teams come into the series tied for first in their respective divisions.
Game #1:
Going, going, A-gone … Adrian Gonzalez belts a grand slam off Triple Creek starter Miguel Gonzalez and then homers off former Bethesda reliever Brian Matusz to pace the Bandicoots to a 9-3 win in the 2015 homer opener.Lonnie Chisenhall started the season fast for Triple Creek with a pair of hits including a double and drove in two of the team’s three runs with Michael Brantley – another former Bandicoot from the days when trading him looked like a good idea – drove in the team’s other run with a double.Anthony Rendon scored twice and had two hits for Bethesda.
Game #2:
Like a 1960 Edsel, the Bethesda Bandicoots just couldn’t get started against Triple Creek starter Kevin Gausman as the young righty held
the home team to four hits in a nice complete game 6-1 win for the Patriots.Gausman fanned five and walked two with the only real  threat in the game lasting all of one pitch when homer happy Adrian Gonzalez went deep in the bottom of the 9th with one out.Tyson Ross had an unimpressive opener for Bethesda allowing four runs on six hits in six innings with just two strikeouts.Jose Reyes doubled and homered off Ross to drive in three runs in the game.
Game #3: Norichika Aoki ripped the game wide open with a two-run triple off hapless lefty Josh Outman in the 7th inning to lift Triple Creek to a 5-2 win over Bethesda.Outman and his 54.00 ERA already have Besthesda wondering how far down an airport tarmac could a trebuchet launch a useless lefty reliever.Chase Headley had three hits and drove in one for Triple Creek while on the other side of the diamond Marwin Gonzalez had three hits including two doubles and drove in one for Bethesda.Jason Vargas was solid for Triple Creek in his season debut allowing two runs over seven innings with four strikeouts and no walks.
Game #4: Hunter Pence homered off John Axford in the top of the 11th to give Triple Creek its first extra-inning win in 2015 8-7 over Bethesda. Starting pitchers had a tough time in this one with both Clay Buchholz (TC) and Alex Cobb (BET) going just four innings each. Buchholz gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits while Cobb gave up four (three earned) on four hits.Lonnie Chisenhall also homered for Triple Creek and drove in a pair of runs with a shot just over the centrefield wall in the 5th off Bethesda reliever Brandon Gomes who apparently is looking for a flight reservation in the trebuchet along with Josh Outman after he gave up three runs without getting an out.Norichika Aoki came up big again for Triple Creek with a three-hit game with one RBI. Even sadsack Rickie Weeks got into the act with a single and two RBIs in three at bats.David Peralta, a pickup in the 2015 draft, doubled and homered and drove in three runs for Bethesda.
Game #5: Bethesda ran amok getting 16 hits, but only cashed in just often enough to come away with a 5-3 win over Triple Creek to creep back into contention in the series. The Bandicoots left 14 runners on base in the game with slap-hitting catcher Josh Thole being the biggest culprit acting like a sinkhole in the #7 spot with an 0/5 7 LOB performance. Jerk.Anthony Rendon and Jon Jay each had three hits for Bethesda. Rendon hit his 4th double of the series. Conor Gillaspie drove in two with a pair of hits including a double.Jose Reyes kept pace with Rendon in the doubles department, smacking his 4th as part of a two-hit attack. Hunter Pence homered for the second straight game and drove in two runs on three hits.
Game #6: Sonny Gray improved to 2-0 on the season with eight strong innings as the Bandicoots finished the series with a split with a 3-1 win over
Triple Creek.A lousy mouse-click almost cost the Bandicoots the game when Gray missed a signal from the manager in the 7th and failed to hold speedy Jonathan Villar at 3rd and could only watch in shock as the Astros infielder raced home on ahead of a pitch to tie the game 1-1 in the 7th.David Peralta came through in the bottom of the 8th thankfully and drove in Marwin and Adrian Gonzalez with a single.Pre-season pickup Jonathan Broxton picked up his 2nd save with a perfect 9th.
Series Summary
A tough-fought series split with some early hot hitting by guys from both sides – Triple Creek had Aoki (.391), Reyes (.393), Chisenhall
(.364) and for Bethesda Rendon (.375), Peralta (.381) and Adrian Gonzalez with three homers and seven RBIs.

Hollywood  Werewolves @  Dallas  Cougars
Series Summary Three of the games were close, but Hollywood still sweeps the series. The big story was southpaw Clayton Kershaw for Hollywood, who allowed only 1 hit in two starts. In his second start he pitched a perfect game.  Dallas Keuchel matched dominance through the first 5 innings of game 1 with Kershaw without allowing a hit till one out in the 6th.Dallas’s best chance for a win was in game three, but closer Hawkins allowed a game tying home run.The best part of the opening home series for Dallas fans was the post game concert after game 6 featuring ZZ Top.

Grand Haven  Gators @ Clovis  Wheat Kings
Series Preview The Grand Haven Gators head to Clovis to participate in their first opening day ceremony. After a brief, but oh so exciting, parade of school children dressed as blossoms to celebrate the local Clovis Blossom Trail, and A list actor Harrison Ford buzzing the field in a vintage WWII airplane the two teams could get down to business.
Game #1: Grand Haven, then as the Camarillo Quest, took the division crown over Clovis last season by one game, is hoping to generate some new playoff buzz for this season with a solid rotation headed by Doug Fister and backed by the power bat of Jose Bautista.Clovis is coming off a strong season that saw them fall one game short of the division crown before falling to Tempe in the Division series after knocking out New York in the Wild Card round. Clovis again features a strong rotation. The addition of Adam Laroche gives Clovis several players up and down the line up with the ability to hit one out of the park.Game #1:Richards vs. FisterGarrett Richards gets the nod for Clovis with Matt Harvey laid up for the year with TJ surgery while Grand Haven counters with crafty veteran Doug Fister. In the first inning Cruz dribbles a seeing eye single the opposite way and Adam Laroche steps up for his first chance to impress the Clovis folks and he does not disappoint, depositing a pitch into the right field bleachers for an early Clovis 2-0 lead.In the top of the fourth Moss gets plunked by a pitch, Navarro singles and Davis fumbles with the ball allowing Moss to score and Navarro to motor around to third. Armarista doubles him in to event he score at 2 each.In the bottom of the fourth, Laroche singles and Brandon Crawford introduces himself to the Clovis faithful with a drive into the left field bleachers allowing the Wheat Kings to regain the lead 4-2.Fifth inning, Belt pinch hits for Richards whose day is done after five strong innings, and singles to center. After two quick outs Nelson Cruz swaggers to the plate and blasts a pitch to the deepest part of left center field for a commanding 6-2 lead. The Clovis bullpen took over from that point with Grilli, Loup, Watson, and Casilla all tossing one inning each to shut the door and send  the capacity crowd home happy.
Game #2: Cashner vs. HouseAndrew Cashner was the story of the day for the Wheat Kings tossing a complete game 1 hit shutout, 4-0 over the visiting Gators. Davis led off the game with a double for Clovis and Daniel Murphy quickly drives him home for a 1-0 lead. Laroche singles and with runners at 1st and 2nd Crawford again powers up and blasts a pitch over the fence for a quick Clovis 4-0 lead in the 1st inning. After that House settled down giving up only two hits over the next 6 innings, but it was to late as Cashner mowed down batter after batter. House finished with 7 K’s while Cashner only registered 2 but kept the ball down throughout never giving any Gator a chance to square up on a pitch. Navarro’s 5th inning single was Grand Haven’s only hit.
Game #3:
Paxton vs. Santana

The teams traded two spots in the first on the strength of a couple of doubles from the bats of Cruz and Barney. The Wheat Kings went
ahead in the 5th on a Castro homer but the Gators tied it in the top of the 7th when Junior Lake blasted on himself.

In the bottom of the 7th the Wheat Kings got a double from Belt and a double from Murphy to drive Belt in. Cruz followed with a base hit
that scored Murphy and the Wheat Kings had a 6-4 lead.

The Gators would get a runner aboard in both the 8th and the 9th off of Watson and Casilla but neither were able to score giving Clovis its third win of the series.

Game #4:  Lohse vs. WilsonLohse, who was traded by Grand Haven, clearly had a chip on his shoulder when it came to this game. Lohse fired a complete game 5 hit shutout with 7 strikeouts and drove in the first two runs of the game with a solid single to center in the second. Asked after the game if he was a little amped up his first game against his former team he replied with a terse, “Whad’u think?”Wilson pitched well for the Gators scattering only 5 base hits but the Wheat Kings made them count, something Grand Haven couldn’t do off of Lohse.
Game #5:  Gonzalez vs. MortonCharlie Morton and the Grand Haven Gators said enough is enough and mowed down the Wheat Kings today 1-0. Morton was masterful
scattering five hits over 9 while striking out 7 for the complete game shutout win.The game was tied through 6 with both pitchers on top of their games before Roberto Perez singled of Gonzalez sending home Bautista who had doubled earlier.
Game #6:  Richards 1-0 vs. Fister 0-1Richards prevailed again in a rematch of game one starters with a 5-0 complete game shutout of the Gators. Richards allowed only two hits, both to Espinosa, in shutting down the Gators. He struck out 7 while walking 5.Clovis batted around in the second scoring 4 times. Arenado capped the scoring with a 6th inning home run.
Game #7:  Cashner 1-0 vs House 0-1Smelling blood in the water Andrew Cashner kept the pressure on against Grand Haven with another 5-0 shutout. Cashner gave up 4 hits in this game while striking out 5. He did not walk a batter.Wheat Kings used 8 hits including 5 doubles, one each from Bloomquist, Cruz, Byrd, Arenado, and Phillips to hammer House. Phillips drove home three to lead the team.
Series Summary  Clovis comes out firing on all cylinders with 4 shutouts of Grand Haven to cement the solid 6-1 series win. Charlie Morton wins the closest game of the series 1-0 for the Gators. Andrew Cashner tosses two complete game shutouts, a 4 hitter and a 1 hitter to provide
some solid credentials for pitcher of the week consideration.
