DEREK JETER – HEADS TO COLUMBUS

Derek-Jeter14-ColumbusPRESS RELEASE – Columbus has returned to MWBL and Derek Jeter has returned to Columbus (a place he even spent time in the minors!).

In a backroom deal between Mobsters Boss – Stray Corrado and Explorers owner Bill Schindel, the two teams reversed a deal that was spawned many moons ago. Jeter started his MWBL career (pre-MWBL, but still MWBL roots) as a minor league draft pick of the Explorers and now he’s back.  When Jeter was reached for comment, his first response was, “It’s about time! Not that I haven’t enjoyed my time in Chicago land, but Columbus is where my heart is.  I’m going to be giving them 110% like I did with Chicago and hope that age isn’t creeping up on my.  Although I really will miss the Mobster team mates (and the clubhouse food here is great – 1st class plus), I will be looking to move in to the Explorers new home and help out the young players and their development.  Most guys my age might think this is a bad move, but the “going home” aspect makes it work nicely.”

Explorer management ecstatic about the acquisition and hope Jeter can play into his 50’s. And there is already talk that there will be a long term position with the team if he ever retires.
