Game #2 – At Chicago:
Jarrod Parker  (13-9  2.95) vs. Felix Hernandez (22-8  2.39)

Andy Dirks (A Nemesis for the Mobsters) has 3 hits in 5 trips including a HR and 2 RBI’s.  Jarrod Parker goes 7 solid innings allowing only 2 Earned Runs, but Grant Balfour cannot stop the bottom three batters in the Mobsters lineup.   Chicago scores 5 Unearned Runs in the bottom of the 8th inning.   Yonder Alonso is 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s & a Run scored.  Jamey Carroll is 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s & a Run scored.  Desmond Jennings is 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.   Felix Hernandez goes 6.1 innings allowing 6 hits, and 3 Earned Run, but doesn’t get a decision.  Five Chicago relievers come in and close it out.

With the series 2-0 Chicago leading the Mobsters head East into Ohio and will venture into the Elyria where the Indians where one game over .500 at 41-40.   Chicago’s 55-26 Road Record was the best in the American League & second only to the Tempers of Tempe in the National League.

C.C. Sabathia (25-5  2.71) vs. Mike Minor  (14-5  2.41)

Chicago gets out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning thanks to a Chipper Jones Sacrifice Fly, Buster Posey Single & Yonder Alonso 3-Run Home Run.   Mike Minor was pulled after only 1 inning.  Elyria chipped back with 1 in the 2nd inning and 4 in the 3rd, including a back to back Doubles by Allen Craig & Marco Scutaro – followed by a Jacoby Ellsbury 3-Run Home Run.  A solo shot was the last of the scoring in the 5th when with the score tied up at 5 Jacoby Ellsbury strode to the plate to face Sabathia again.  Sabathia threw a hanging curve and Ellsbury tattooed the offering deep to right for a 6-5 Lead.  Five Indian relievers held the Mobsters in check for 8 innings and Elyria pulled the series within 1 game at 2-1.

Chicago got out to another quick lead scoring 4 Runs in the first inning, 3 of the Run scoring on a Buster Posey 3-Run Home Run.   Elyria chipped back including 2 solo Home Runs from Chicago’s Nemesis Andy Dirks.    Chris Sale went 6.2 Innings and four Chicago relievers including Aroldis Chapman who picked up his 3rd save on the series.
Final Score:  Chicago 6 – Elyria 4

Game #5 – At Elyria
Felix Hernandez (22-8  2.39) vs. Jordan Zimmermann (15-12  3.06)

159448148_JWa_CIN_319All the scoring in this 5th game was from the Long Ball.   Five different batters hit Home Runs.  Chipper Jones started the scoring off with a solo Home Run in the top of the 1st.  Matt Wieters answered that solo shot with a Home Run of his own in the bottom of the 4th.  Desmond Jennings hit his second Home Run of the series in the top of the 5th to put the Mobsters up 3 to 1.   Jeff Francouer who had a stellar series in the field with 3 Assists including 2 at the plate, hits a solo shot in the 7th to put the Indians within one.   Felix Hernandez allowed only the two solo shots through 6.2 innings.  But Chicago’s bullpen came on to handle business like it had done so many times during the regular season, Trevor Rosenthal & Jeremy Blevins pitched .2 innings each to get the Mobsters through the 7th & 8th.  Aroldis Chapman came on looking for his 4th save of the series.  Chapman struck out 2 of the 3 batters he faced to give him 6 Strike outs in the 4.1 innings of work he had in the series.

The series was a very close one with a few breaks going the Mobsters way.  The Indians manager Brian Mazurek did his usual excellent job manufacturing runs and playing small ball to keep his team within 2 runs in every game.   Chicago gets a few days of rest and awaits the winner of the Southbend Lynx of Hollywood Werewolves series.
